New idea: Friends - The One Where Underdog Gets Away - S1E9

In general the idea is to give you one episode per blogpost. In every blogpost I'll shortly describe what happens with the six main characters of Friends in that certain episode. SPOILER

General happenings season 1:
The first season introduces the six main characters: Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, and Ross. Rachel arrives at Central Perk after running away from her wedding to her fiancé Barry and moves into her friend from high school's (Monica’s) apartment with her. Ross, who has had a crush on Rachel since the two of them were in high school, constantly attempts to tell her how he feels about her. However, many obstacles stand in his way, such as the fact that he is expecting a baby with his lesbian ex-wife, Carol. Joey is shown to be a bachelor and struggling actor, while Phoebe works as a masseuse and portrays a sort of "crazy" attribute to her personality based on her troubles as a child after her mother committed suicide. However the rest of the group loves her regardless. Chandler breaks up with girlfriend Janice, who frequently returns in later seasons. At the end of the season, Chandler accidentally reveals that Ross loves Rachel, who realizes that she feels the same way. The season ends with Rachel waiting at the airport for Ross’ arrival from a trip.

The One Where Underdog Gets Away - S1E9
Joey poses for a health poster, but later finds out he's become the V.D. poster boy. Ross finds out Susan is reading to the unborn baby and decides he must, too. Ross and Monica plan their own Thanksgiving dinner because their parents are away; Phoebe joins them, because she celebrates with her grandmother and her grandmother's boyfriend... in December... because he's lunar; Joey joins in because his family thinks he has V.D.; Monica has to make three kinds of potatoes. Chandler plans to boycott Thanksgiving because his parents announced their divorce on that day; Rachel has plans to go to Vale to be with her family. The Underdog balloon breaks free during the parade; everyone goes to the roof to watch but they get locked out of Monica's apartment; the dinner is burned and Rachel misses her flight. Everyone ends up eating Chandler's cheese sandwiches and Funyuns for Dinner. Ugly Naked Guy has Thanksgiving dinner with Ugly Naked Gal, and there's Ugly Naked Dancing.

Joey: He is wearing make-up because he is now an actor/model. He poses for the posters of the City Free Clinic. He was going to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family, but everyone thinks he has VD (the poster). He meets an old collegue. They worked together at Macy's. She was the obsession girl and he was the Aramis guy. But she runs away when seeing the poster. It was not his first choice, but celebrats Thanksgiving with the gang. He wants tator tots for potatoes.

Chandler: He hates Thanksgiving because when he was 9 years old he had a mouth full of pumpkin pie and then his parents tell him they want to divorce. Because they forgot the keys when underdog gets away, dinner is ruined and he is thankful that they are all together because the other Thanksgiving's sucked.

Ross: He is sad because his parents go to Puerto Rico for Thanksgiving. They were invited by the Blymans. He wants his mashed potatoes with lumps because that's how mom makes them.

Rachel: Her boss is called Terry. She asks him $100 in advance because she wants to go ski-ing with her family in Vail. She eventually gets the money from her friends. But then she can't go because she misses her plane as they can't get into the apartment because someone forgot the keys.

Monica: She is really stressed. It's her first Thanksgiving and Rachel assumed she would have thought about the keys when they went going to look at underdog. Everyone wants their potatoes differently (3 ways for 5 people) and it's too much of a responsibility for her. It really gets too much when the whole dinner is ruinned and Joey says this was not anyone's first choice.


Phoebe: She wants her potatoes whipped with peas and onions. You know, like her mom used to make before she killed herself.
